Steve Yun

Speaker

Dr. Yun is a board-certified anesthesiologist who specializes in office and dental anesthesia. He obtained his M.D. from the University of Southern California, and completed his post-graduate training at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences. He is a Lecturer at the Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Clinical Professor at the Western University of Health Sciences, and an Expert Consultant and Examiner for the Dental Board of California. He is also a Safety Inspector for the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF). 

He has extensive clinical research experience and has given numerous lectures across the country and internationally on patient safety issues.

Vijay Mathur

David Avenetti

Speaker

Dr. Avenetti is a full-time Clinical Associate Professor and the Post-Graduate program director at UIC in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. 

His didactic responsibilities include coordination and instruction in "Orthodontics & Growth and Development", "Pulp Therapy and Dental Materials", "Advocacy and Public Health", and "Journal Club/Post-Graduate Seminars". Dr. Avenetti’s clinical responsibilities include serving as an attending in the post-graduate clinic and at the University of Illinois Hospital. He facilitates the collaborative “Mixed Dentition Clinic” with the Department of Orthodontics. He is involved in federally-funded research with NIDCR, receives supported for educational grants through HRSA, and participates in institutionally-funded projects.

He is actively involved with the AAPD, where he is a national spoksperson, a fellow, and a graduate of the Leadership Institute Cohort V. Dr. Avenetti is a Diplomate of the ABPD and engages in extramural private practice in Chicago, IL.

Navreet Sidhu

Dr Navreet Sidhu, is a board certified pediatric dentist.

Born and raised in India, Dr Sidhu voyaged to the US after finishing dental school in India. She lived in Los Angeles, while attending dental school at UCLA School of Dentistry in California. She furthered her training as a pediatric dental resident at Mt Sinai Medical Center in New York where she also served as the “Chief Resident” in the Department of Dentistry. At Mount Sinai she focused her post graduate research work on improving the collaboration between pediatricians and pediatric dentists by developing the infant oral health screening protocol for pediatric residents. As a part of her research initiative, she helped create a dental screening tool in EPIC for oral and caries risk assessment that can be utilized by Pediatricians and Pediatric Residents to assess not only the oral health status of infants but also to measure the referral activity to the Pediatric dentists.
Her research work helped improve access to dental care for children in the underserved areas in Manhattan . Her major research foci are developing and implementing infant oral health programs in underserved communities, encouraging inter departmental collaborations.
Dr Sidhu is a staunch advocate of breastfeeding and is currently working towards becoming a certified lactation counselor. In her private practice in Montgomery New Jersey, Dr Sidhu works closely with young moms who are having a challenging breastfeeding journey. She is trained to diagnose infant tongue and lip ties (especially as it pertains to breastfeeding difficulty) and release the tethered tissues with C02 Light scalpel laser.
Other areas of interest include myofunctional therapy and early intervention orthodontics.

Brett Chiquet

Dr. Chiquet received his DDS, PhD, and Advanced Education Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth)  School of Dentistry in Houston, Texas.  Dr. Chiquet is a ful time faculty member at the UTHealth School of Dentistry, where he is involved in dental student and resident education and clinic.  Dr. Chiquet helps direct resident research, and his personal research centers around a multidisciplinary approach to treating patients with cleft lip and palate and addressing patient safety concerns. 

Dustin Janssen

Speaker

Dr. Dustin Janssen is a private practice pediatric dentist in Lubbock TX.  He started his private practice, Parkview Pediatric Dentistry, 6 years ago.  Dr. Janssen received his DDS from Baylor College of Dentistry in 2009 and spent two years as a general dentist before returning to The University of Washington and recieving his certificate in pediatric dentistry in 2013.
