Safety Symposium, Hidden Threats and Safe Practices: Steps to Creating a Safe Dental Home

This inaugural course on safety in pediatric dental practice is meant to create awareness and provide simple tools to attendees to improve their office safety. The course brings in experts in major areas of dental practice as well as medical experts in patient safety. Attendees will be exposed to the history of safety in industry and general health care and then receive more detailed information about safety issues in pediatric dentistry practice.

Goals

1. Make participants aware of the range and nature of safety issues in the practice of pediatric dentistry

2. Provide an overview of the history of patient safety in industry and health care with lessons applicable to the practice of pediatric dentistry

3. Provide take-home information for application to practice to improve safety for children, families, dental personnel and the environment
