Learning Lab: Improve Your Local Anesthesia with Intraosseous Injections

Recorded On: 05/28/2022

We will begin with a brief introduction to local anesthesia and then focus down on intra osseous anesthesia. We will discuss what is intra osseous anesthesia using diagrams and clinical photos. We will then discuss why this procedure is needed using examples of young children and difficult anesthetic problems. Continuing on, we will discuss where it is used and the specific locations of giving the injections along with specific techniques. We will examine which patients would best be served by this technique and some of the difficulties and possible complications of the technique. At the conclusion of the presentation, we will share experiences of different tricks and methods that have been used successfully by members of the group. Presented by Barney T. Olsen, DDS, MS.
