This presentation will review the range of hesitancy with regard to vaccines and fluoride provision from a primary care perspective. Evidence-based communication techniques providers can use to address such hesitancy with parents of their pediatric patients will then be described.
During this session, the learner will hear about hot topics that relate to the patients that pediatric dentists and pediatricians share. These topics will include recent hypertension guidelines, obesity screening and referral, anxiety and depression screening and referral, trauma-informed care, and nicotine exposure (including juuling). We will give a quick update on each of these topics and discuss high-level approaches to managing patients who present with these illnesses.
