This course will provide insight into the importance of investment portfolio design to build wealth within the context of a comprehensive financial plan. An overview of qualified and non-qualified investments account types will be provided, with a discussion on tax efficient investing, as well as portfolio design and alternative investment strategies. A comprehensive hypothetical financial plan will be reviewed to help understand additional considerations that need to be addressed in the planning process to promote success.

Current trends of vaping among adolescents report staggering numbers. There's concern with nicotine addiction and other substances within the e-cigarette liquid. Also, added flavorings continue to make vaping attractive. The e-cigarette market is evolving and evading the latest rules/ regulations meant to help mitigate this public health epidemic. A mini-tutorial of tech savvy cessation tools will be introduced to practitioners to enhance their knowledge and ability to assist and educate their pediatric patients.

Fully guided third molar tooth bud ablation (3TBA) is being developed to be a safe, rapid, and effective means of preventing third molars from forming. Detailed procedure information will be presented that includes 3TBA screening and pre-op procedures, protocols for a safe 3TBA procedure, histological and radiographical characterization of the post 3TBA healing response, and an overview of ongoing human clinical trials.

This session will highlight the physiological mechanisms and consequences behind the adage "you are what you eat." The entire body has a microbial flora that varies by location and can be positive and health promoting or negative and pathogenic. The flora within the gastrointestinal tract from the mouth to the anus respond to the diet provided. This session will present how nutrition impacts the microbiome, overall metabolic health, and development. It will promote interprofessional advocacy for improving nutrition by exploring barriers families face in obtaining healthy food options. It will add to the knowledge and the ability to explain the importance of good nutrition for optimal health during childhood and adolescence.

This didactic experience is appropriate for any pediatric dental staff member interested in reinforcing the knowledge and performance skills requisite to providing best rescue practices for the emergency management of pediatric dental patients and their caregivers. Instruction in the performance and communication skills necessary among the dental team responding to various adverse events requiring emergency medical intervention will be described using various case scenarios. It is the intent of this presentation to review emergency management protocols, equipment, and supplies recommended for deployment in the contemporary pediatric dental office.

- Understand the signs and symptoms of a variety of medical emergencies for which a dental office must be prepared including syncope, angina, cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, stroke, hypertensive episode, airway obstruction, seizure, local anesthetic overdose, hypoglycemia, asthmatic attack, hyperventilation, and allergic reaction/anaphylaxis and to effectively intervene in its management.
- Cite the various roles performed by the pediatric dental team in rescuing a patient or caregiver during a medical emergency.
- Understand how to prepare and utilize written Office Action Plan, Checklist and Protocols during a medical emergency.
